ABOUT
Francesco Portinari is an accomplished award-winning film editor for more than 30 years.
He has also experience as a director, music supervisor, music composer, editing workflows coordinator, post-production supervisor, sound mix, sound design, and color correction.
His work covers a large range of genres such as features documentaries, commercials, music videos, short films, and feature films.
Portinari was born and raised in Milan, Italy, and started co-directing and editing independent short films at the age of 16, winning the International Short Film Festival Of Milan Audience Award in 1998.
Portinari then moved to New York City in 2007 and started working for Giraldi Media, as a senior editor with the award-winning director Bob Giraldi, editing commercials and short films.
In 2009 he started working with award-winning director and photographer Gavin Bond for Rated Content of NYC as senior editor of commercials and short films, winning the 2011 Ponton Noire Film Festival, with the short film “Mind Games”.
The same year, Bob Giraldi hired him to teach Editing and develop his Master's film program “MPS Live Action Short Film” at the School Of Visual Art of New York.
In 2011 started working for 3 Generations on the acclaimed feature documentary “Tricked”, edited side by side with Osacr-winning editor Craig McKay.
Since then, Portinari has continues his editing career working as a senior editor and post-production supervisor, on numerous feature and social documentaries, more than 40 short films, commercials, and feature films, winning different awards.
Skilled and professional in Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro X, Compressor, Avid, Color Correction, DCP export, video and audio formats, audio engineering, sound mix, sound design and tremendously knowledgeable about music.
Organized, resourceful, excellent eye, and fast hands.
Published composer and musician with numerous live performances in Europe.
Bi-lingual – Italian/English.
